Triathlete Chronicles

I post a lot of pictures of the Glasshouse Mountains. Here's a different view of the mountains in the distance across the bay.

Ride one, run two

Last week was my first week of fairly consistent training in a while. This week I almost lapsed back by bailing on my Mt Coot-tha bike session yesterday. (It was raining. Descending in the rain isn't particularly safe.) I saved it today by following through on one of my dumbest ideas yet. Because I chickened out on Mt Coot-tha yesterday I decided that I should do some kind of short ride before my planned 20k run this morning. I looked at all kinds of options before deciding on the obvious…

White caps all round.

I haven't posted much this month, so I thought some kind of update was in order. Training has been a bit inconsistent. I've only done two long rides this month (both 90ks or so), and I've only managed one swim per week, instead of my promised two. But my running is on schedule. The inconsistency is mostly due to two trips away to officiate - firstly to Christchurch for the Oceania Triathlon Union (OTU) super sprint continental cup, and then to Elwood in Melbourne for the first of the ITU…

Triathlete Chronicles: The Wednesday morning crowd. I was having too much fun riding my bike at Mt Coot-tha this morning so instead of stopping to take a picture I created this artists impression.

The Wednesday morning crowd

This week I headed out to Mt Coot-tha for some hills for strength training. Last week I was there on a Thursday and I noticed something different about this week's Wednesday morning crowd. Part of it maybe was me. Last Thursday was the first time I'd been out at Coot-tha for a while and it was also my first week of proper training post Christmas. "Proper training for what?" I hear you ask. That's another post. I'll get to that. Today I just want to focus on the positivity I was feeling. On…
