Irene Abbott, of Colac, was charged with child murder on the 5th December 1913.  The Crown, urged that accused was either a fiend and monster or else was temporarily insane. The Judge summed up against the prisoner saying the doctor was unable to submit an indication that the girl's mind was affected. He never heard a more painful nor pitiful thing.
