Racehorse trainer Tommy Woodcock and his champion racehorse Reckless on the night before running second to Gold and Black in the Melbourne Cup of 1977.  "Reckless had won the Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane cups and the 73-year old trainer liked the stallion's chances in the 1977 Melbourne Cup. Horse and trainer died within months of each other in 1985.

Next to the old Flinders Street Station (left of pic) on the south-west corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets stood the Old Fish Market, later housing Hanton's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Market and Bicycle Stables. Demolished in 1900 to make way for the new Flinders Street Station. (nice ad for Fry's chocolates on building)
