I saw several of these black cockatoos recently early one morning at West Head. They were high up in the branches of a casuarina tree, eating the seeds. I could only catch glimpses of those beautiful red tail feathers as they moved around the branches. The only way i can get good pix of these of these cockies is to the visit the bird show at the zoo (which is no hardship at all!) Edit: i found out this year that the black cockatoos with red tails that i have seen in the wild around sydney…
