OLD POLICE STATION, YORK. The old police station & courthouse complex at York, that stands today on Avon Terrace, stretching down to Low Street, is a reminder of the heritage & growth of Western Australia. The complex was built over a period of some 60 years from the early 1840s to the turn of the century. It started at what is now the rear and built its way towards Avon Terrace, some sections being demolished to make way for newer and more substantial structures.
