Wombat Vombatus ursinus, Maria Island, Tasmania, April 2015. A lucky shot - I was actually photographing Cape Barren geese at the time, sheltering behind a log and facing the other way, as these wombats emerged from their burrow for an evening stroll and graze. In any case, wombats don't have great eyesight, so as long as I didn't make any rapid movements, they seemed unable to discern me from the log.

Baby Wombat (rescue)
Another lovely picture of this tiny rescued wildlife baby my wife was allowed to cuddle in Australia. Look closely in front wombat's nose and see a wombat sketch on my wife's Tshirt (pure chance).
Common Wombat - Mother and Joey
About 20 to 50m of the boardwalk, 100m into the Ronny Creek Walk, was this family of Wombats (the father being a bit closer to the boardwalk). One of my favourite memories was lying, sitting or squatting next to these two taking photos and hardly being able to believe how blessed I was to get within less than a metre of these two. The mother was not worried at all, although she did expand her personal space a bit compared to the day before when the baby was in the burrow, which is good…
